What is Equine Assisted Learning?

What is Equine Assisted Learning?

EAL is a safe space to connect and interact with horses and nature. Within this space, clients are offered the opportunity to develop vital life skills through experiences with horses. Regulation and awareness can support clients in attuning to their own boundaries, relationships, and sense of safety. The goal of EAL is to develop acceptance of self and others.

EAL is not horse riding, although mounted sessions can be offered if both the client and horse are willing and the experience fits within the clients learning goals.

Who can benefit from EAL?

All ages and all abilities can benefit from Equine Assisted Learning. Sessions can be particularly helpful for people who present with mental health and/or behavioural issues. Having experience with horses is not necessary to be able to seek the benefits of EAL.

What can I expect from an EAL session?

Clients are invited to get up close with our equine friends. This could mean spending time grooming, leading, touching or engaging in lead mounted sessions. Experiences will be tailored to the clients’ goals. Client safety is carefully considered at all times.
